Overview

Location

The apartments of Hooked Cabarete are located near 'Playa del Encuentro'. This is one of the most relaxed places in Dominican Republic. It is a beautiful beach where you don't see the negative sides of tourism yet and offers great waves for wave surfing and kite surfing.

The Surf

Surfing is a fantastic sport, especially in a country like the Dominincan Republic with a temperature the whole year round between 27° and 31°C.

Many people know Cabarete because of its great features for kite- and windsurfing. But Cabarete also has Encuentro, which is fantastic for wave surfing. For advanced surfers, as well as for beginners. The spot is beautiful, not crowded, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed.

Almost every day, especially in the mornings, there are good waves at Encuentro. The highest waves you can find there in autumn and wintertime, but also in summertime it is good for surfing.

Surflessons
Together with the local surf school of Encuentro, Hooked Cabarete offers surf lessons that make it possible to learn wavesurfing at one of the most beautiful spots in the Caribbean. At the surfschool you can count on a team of professional and highly motivated instructors who will make sure you learn this amazing sport while having a great time on the water.

Surfboard Rentals
At the surfschool you can also rent surfboards. Beginner boards, but also different types of boards for advanced surfers. It's possible to choose another board every day, suited for the conditions and your progress.

Surftrips
Together with some local surfers they organise surftrips frequently to other spots at the Dominican coast. They will show you the most beautiful spots, places you normally never would see, and give you a taste of a surfers life.

Accommodation

The high quality apartments are suited for 1, 2 or 3 persons (with an exception of 4 persons for people with small children)

They are fully equipped with a kitchen, couch, bathroom (with hot and cold water), terrace, 24 hours electricity, ventilation system and/or optional air-conditioning.

They have apartments with two single beds or with a two-persons bed and there are baby beds available.

RENT A SCOOTER/QUAD:

For walking to the beach you only need your two feet. You walk there in a few minutes. Transporting yourself to the center of Cabarete, Sosua or where ever you want to go, is very easy there. There are many buses and motoconcho's which you can find at the beach or the main road.

And Hooked Cabarete also give the opportunity to rent a scooter with your apartment. Very nice for example for going out in the evenings, checking out the surrounding, or just to be mobile yourself.

For the off-road tracks in the mountains or just a more adventurous way of transporting yourself, they also have a few 250 cc ATV's (quads) for rent.

Activities

Also ATV-tours, cascading (canyoning) on waterfalls, Yoga or Pilates, moutainbiking, motocross, horse back riding, wake boarding, karting, snorkeling and many other things are possible

Frequently they also organise things like Sushi nights, typical Dominican diners, kite- and surftrips to other spots and downwinders from other spots to Encuentro.

Hooked Cabarete works together with a diving center in Sosua; the best place to go for diving in the surroundings. With over 10 years of experience, good equipment and instructors, you know for sure you will be diving with of one of the best, but also least expensive, diving schools.

Kitesurfing

Cabarete is one of the windiest destinations in the whole world. Perfect for a great kitesurf holiday. For advanced kite surfers, but also if you want to learn kite surfing at their kite school.

In Cabarete there are different kite spots. In the middle of the center of Cabarete you have Bozo Beach. The best spots for kite surfers are Kite beach and Encuentro though. At both beaches, the wind is always very stable, with deep water and a few waves at the back at Kite beach and shallow water in the beginning of Encuentro with the best and easy going waves of Cabarete. It is also great to make a down winder from Kite beach to Encuentro.

KITE-LESSONS:
The IKO related kiteschool they work with, uses high quality and save equipment and the instructors are experienced and qualified to teach. They have lessons for beginners and advanced riders.

For BEGINNERS they have full courses of three or four days (9 or 12 hours) and the possibility to take less or more hours. You can take private lessons or group lessons (with two persons). Of course it is possible to adjust the content of the lessons, the amount of hours per lessons and total amount of hours to your preferences. All lessons are including equipment.

If you become just as hooked on kiting as they are, you probably don't want to stop kiting when your lessons are finished. You can choose either to buy or to rent equipment. When you rent equipment you can do this with supervision (somebody that helps you and looks after you the whole time) or without.

For EXPERIENCED KITERS who already had some lessons before, it  is possible to take a refresher package of 1 lesson (3 hours) and 6 hours of supervision (somebody that helps and looks after you ) :
