Overview

Location

Del Mar Surf Camp is based on theCentral Pacific coast of Costa Rica, in Playa Hermosa, Jaco, just 2 hours away from San Jose international airport. This area is an ideal surfing spot for all levels.

Our "Surf Town" location. Jaco is one of Costa Rica's most popular beaches known for surfing with consistent waves and a variety of breaks with a laid back surfer town vibe. Playa Hermosa is an incredible shore break, one of the strongest in the world. Jaco is where our beginners learn to surf in gentle waves and Playa Hermosa is ideal for intermediate and advanced surfers.

International surf contests like the World Surfing Games are normally held in the nearby Playa Hermosa, Puntarenas that attracts a huge number of surfers from all over nationally and internationally to this beach.

Jaco beach has a fun & casual atmosphere, catering to tourists who want a nice relaxing lifestyle, with easy access to all local attractions for those who want to shop and see the city.?? In Jaco you will find banks, souvenirs shops, good restaurants, medical services and popular night life.

The Surf

One of the most wonderful things about Costa Rica is the surfing. There are hundreds of fantastic, reliable and consistent spots for surfers of every level and the water is so warm you don't need to wear a wetsuit.

Some of the local spots...

Escondida: perfect, tubing reef break with powerful lefts and rights.

Jaco: is a small beach-break with fun left and right peaks, you can surf almost the entire beach. Great beginner wave, or for a warm-up surf before tackling nearby Hermosa or Escondida.

Roca Loca: or "Crazy Rock", a powerfull, rocky right hand reef break off a large exposed rock. Lots of water moving around. You have to descend a steep cliff then paddle out in a small channel. It's best surfing this break with someone who has surfed there before, so they can show you the safe way to paddle in and out. Experienced surfers only!

Hermosa: powerfull and consistent beachbreak that sticks out into the Pacific, assuring constant swell. You will rarely be surfing under head high here. It can be perfect sometimes, delivering a nice barrel, but at other times you might see the barreling waves all over the place, but have trouble finding that perfect wave for yourself !

Esterillos: You can either surf Estrellos Este (east), or Estrellos Oeste (west) or Centro (Center) a beachbreak with peaks, usually with good shape. Both lefts and rights. Really fun for all types of levels.

Accommodation

The Hotel Club Del Mar is situated on the oceanfront in a quiet cove at the south end of Jaco Beach, surrounded by mature tropical gardens, towering trees and palms. A tropical forest serves as the backdrop and the architecture of the buildings blends naturally with the surroundings.

You can enjoy deluxe room accommodation with either a single king size bed or two double beds, a bathroom, large covered balcony and the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, fans, telephone, coffee maker, hair dryer and safe.

The hotel has well trained and friendly bilingual staff and an excellent restaurant with international cuisine. Other facilities include wireless internet, a bar and a swimming pool.
