The eco-friendly surf hut awaits for you, right on the beach …no rush, stay all day, surf and chill out!

At the end of a 10-minute drive, you can find yourself in the midst of Hossegor nightlife and The Natural Surf Lodge is only 35 km from the highlights of Biarritz.
The Basque country, the Pyrenees and Spain can be reached within a one hour’s drive for day hiking or cultural festivities, whenever surfing is not possible.

Learning
As a complete beginner (or if you have tried out surfing once or twice before), you need to learn how to handle a board without hurting yourself or people around you, how to paddle in balance and catch white waves, pop up on the board and standing up in the foam as long as possible…
You will use smooth, long and stable beginner boards

Developing
As an intermediate surfer you have surfed for some time (few years of inconsistent surfing practice). You can duck dive. You can catch and ride unbroken waves but you feel static on the wave. You will learn how to catch some speed to actually move your board on the wave and intensify your carves (bottom turn, roller, cut back) and feel feet pressure onto the board. Video support will be a good tool to lead your progress.
You will be trying out different type of surf boards and will know by the end of you stay with us which board is suitable for you and allows you a good progression step.

Surfing
As an advanced surfer you have been surfing regularly for numerous years. You probably ride a short board or ride a longboards as a short board. You are not afraid by waves of raisonable height (6′ and over) and want to challenge yourself with different types of breaks (powerful beach breaks, point breaks…). You are looking for surf guiding more than surf lessons to discover jowels that basco-landaise coastline has to offer.
You know which board you need for surfing any type of waves : our quiver is waiting for you…

The Natural Surf Lodge offers a quiver of over 80 boards, for all levels (beginners to advanced surfers) and all styles.

From classic longboards to last fashion « quatro », G-boards to start, mini mal to progress and various custom boards shaped by french and international shapers (Surfoam, UWL, Superfrog, Philippe Chevalier, Guitoux Garcia, Maurice Cole, Rod Dahlberg, Vaugan, John Berry, Phil Grace, Al Merrick, Surf Prescription, JP Stark, Mc Kee, Simon Anderson…) and a wide choice of Surftech, NSP and BIC surf boards.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Natural Surf Lodge can accommodate 15 people in total. When you book one of the Packages, you will be accommodated in the Lodge, a mini-apartment or the bungalow.

The bungalow is mainly for couples who may like to join the group at times, but who also want a level of independence. It has one double-bedroom and its own shower-room and toilet.

The mini-apartments (for 2-4) have 2 beds downstairs and 2 upstairs on a mezzanine level. They are for groups of friends or families willing to share their interest in surfing and nature. Each room has its own shower and toilets.

The Lodge is the best place to chill out and enjoy “après surf”… The communal areas like the kitchen, bbq area, video corner, pool table, and the SPA with warm hydro-massage pool can be used anytime.

Also available are : bicycles, canoes, and a rowing boat… to discover the lakes and forest of the neighbouring Landes region.

RESTAURANT

For your meals you can choose the option that works best for you:

* an organic continental breakfast is always included in the packages !
* for lunch and dinner you can use the spacious kitchen in the communal area as well as the outdoor BBQ.
* or you can order diner in the restaurant for 10€
* you can go out the local restaurant “Les Roseaux” with a great view on the “Etang Blanc” (White Lake) and delicious traditional menu choices.

Please mention if you require vegetarian dishes @ the restaurant.

On the beach, from June to September, Franck is awaiting you in his snack bar, opposite the surf shack and offers a selection of sandwiches, “crêpes”, icecreams, hot and cold drinks to help you take advantage of a non-stop surfing day at the beautiful beach of “Les Casernes”.

During the surf lessons, Claire and Stephan will teach you in french, their native language : you will know by the end of the week what “rame, rame….” or “Allez, allez….” means !

At the Natural Surf Lodge “Surf fuel ateliers” are organised daily. They combine a fun and usefull approach of french language. Local french people will also participate and “frenchise” the ambiance. They accept everybody, all ages, shapes and sizes, so there is no excuse, come and join their english/french conversation classes !

LOCATION

Hossegor is Europe’s surf mecca and is rated by the world’s best surfers as Europe’s most consistent wave. This is the place, if you want to enjoy the good surf and the lifestyle that the SW of France has to offer, play golf,  meet new people and much much more.

Your hosts Kevin Olsen and his wife, Yacha, welcome you into the surf house to experience a true surfing holiday in Hossegor.  Former native to South Africa, Kevin, is a professional surfer and coach with 10 years of experience in professional surfing.

The surf camp is perfect for the wave hungry surfers to come and explore the world class waves and miles of beautiful and sandy beaches of Hossegor, Capbreton and Seignosse.

Every year, Hossegor hosts 3 international surfing (ASP) events and is also home to the European surf industry in Soorts/Hossegor which is 30 minutes North of Biarritz Airport.

ACCOMMODATION

The house has a spacious living room which opens out onto our terrace with hammocks over-looking the golf course and is a great place to enjoy BBQ evenings while surrounded by large pine trees and loving people sharing their surf stories.

The living room has large comfortable sofas and a chill room with music, videos and DVD’s for your entertainment. They provide WIFI also.

The chill zone has video coaching facilities for touring groups and teams and outside there are areas for stretching/yoga with a full-on training course for physical strengthening exercises and a mini football field.

Kevin Olsen is internationally known for his flamboyant freesurfing style and his positive out-look to surf coaching. For the past 10 years Kevin has traveled around the world surfing and coaching with the best surfers on the world tour.

From surfing competitions on the world tour to training pro surfers to instructing individual surf courses, Kevin can provide you with top quality surf instruction. Kevin is a British Surfing Association (BSA) qualified surf instructor and has a current beach lifeguard qualification.
