Overview

Location

Tamarindo, located on the Pacific Coast, is a popular vacation destination in the North-West of Costa Rica. Tamarindo is surrounded by national parks to its north and south, and mountains to its east.

The beach is a long stretch of white sand and warm blue water. The town stretches along the beach and has lots of shops and restaurants.

Costa Rica is one of the world's most unique destinations. Her nature expands from coast to coast, and in the middle of the jungle you'll encounter nature as you have never seen before. Costa Rica is home to a rich variety of plants and animals. While the country has only about 0.1% of the world's landmass, it contains 5% of the world's biodiversity. Over 25% of Costa Rica is composed of protected forests and reserves.

The Surf

Tamarindo is known as a surf town with ideal conditions for surfing and windsurfing and different other surfspots closeby:

To the north of Tamarindo is Playa Grande. There are three ways to reach Playa Grande: swim or take the boat across the Tamarindo River or drive a bit inland to cross the river and continue on a dirt road.

To the south of Tamarindo are the beaches Playa Langosta, Playa Avellanas, and Playa Negra. Playa Negra was featured in Bruce Brown's Endless Summer II. Access to Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra is not so easy, due to poor road conditions, especially during the rainy season, but with a 4x4 or boat you're there in no time...

Accommodation
